![]() I must admit that I haven’t sewn the borders on yet, and I’m kinda tempted to not and simply add binding in the background fabric… I’m not sure. Sewing the quilt top together took a morning and approximately 1.5 cheesy, romantic holiday movies on Netflix… possibly a little longer because I got sucked into the movies at times! (btw can 100% recommend Holiday In The Wild because Rob Lowe and also a perfect example of this movie genre) That afternoon I then pressed all the blocks (15 minutes). The next session to sew the blocks together was squeezed in on a Saturday morning before heading to a ladies’ event at church (30 mins). In one sewing session, I spent sewing and pressing all the HSTs (20 minutes). I even pulled out my AccuQuilt to cut the smaller half-square triangles which meant it was even speedier (no need to trim those HSTs!)Īs usual, I batch-tasked this quilt. Measure twice, cut once, and you’re all good. Stack and whack, baby, stack and whack! What that means is that I had 3-4 pieces in a pile, and cut them all at once. I really can’t emphasise how quick a pattern this is to make, especially when using a layer cake. So I added in a couple of fat quarters of coordinating solids for the folded corners, and off I went! And I had one of those lying around – Voyager by Kate Spain. ![]() My latest pattern, Origami, is just perfect for layer cakes! Especially the small bed sized quilt – it has 42 blocks, which is the exact same number as pieces in a Moda layer cake.
